  5.          This document describes how to install Warlord's, The Quest 
  6.          for the Iridian Throne on the FALKEN BBS System.  This 
  7.          document applies to Warlords Version v4.0 and all maintenance
  8.          updates in that version.  A major version number is 
  9.          represented by the digits to the left of the decimal point, 
  10.          and the maintenance update version number is indicated by the 
  11.          digits to the right of the decimal point.
  12.          
  13.          Keep this document with your distribution kit.  You will need 
  14.          it to install maintenance updates or to reinstall Warlords 
  15.          for any other reasons.

  17.          The installation procedure is described step-by-step and is, 
  18.          for the most part, self-explanatory.

  37.          Warlords, The Quest for the Iridian Throne is a multi-player 
  38.          game loosely based on the game Empire.  The individual 
  39.          players create a empire that they must manage.  This 
  40.          management includes keeping people happy, handling
  41.          covert activities, and managing military resources and 
  42.          ultimately to determine strategy that will put the player on 
  43.          top of all empires.
  44.          
  45.          Its not easy as the Galactic Newspaper often tells of 
  46.          under-handed activities that you may be involved with.  
  47.          Fortunately it is possible to publish an article in this 
  48.          paper to tell your side of the story.
  49.          
  50.          As a rising Emperor you may find it useful to ally with one 
  51.          of your neighbors.  You can use inter-galactic mail and 
  52.          military transfers of goods and military supplies to make 
  53.          this alliance.
  54.          
  55.          Do you have what it takes??

  58.          Software Requirements:

  61.          1.  FALKEN BBS v6.x or greater
  62.          
  63.          2.  At least 165k of Doors Memory.
  64.          
  65.          3.  All accounts that play the game *MUST* have a 8 character
  66.              account number that is unique to each player.  This
  67.              account number is used to create mailboxes for each 
  68.              player for inter-game mail.
  69.          
  70.          4.  Every day at a predetermined time the program
  71.              CLEANWAR.EXE is to be run.  This program will reset
  72.              flags so that players will get new turns every day.  
  73.              This is best done by a timer-event.  Refer to the FALKEN 
  74.              users manual for a complete description of timer-event.

  77.          Installation Instructions:
  78.          -------------------------

  80.          1.  Create a directory that can be used as a work area 
  81.              by Warlords.
  82.          
  83.          2.  Copy CLEANWAR.EXE to the same directory that FALKEN's
  84.              MAINBBS.EXE is located.
  85.          
  86.          3.  Copy WAR40.EXE to the standard directory that you place
  87.              your doors programs at.  Then run FALKEN's BBSCFG
  88.              and indicate the key and the path to the WAR30.EXE
  89.              executable.  Refer to your FALKEN manual for complete
  90.              information on the installation of DOORS.

  92.          4.  Copy NEWWAR.EXE to the same directory that FALKEN's
  93.              MAINBBS.EXE is located
  94.  
  95.          5.  Run NEWWAR.EXE in the directory that MAINBBS.EXE
  96.              resides.

  98.              Answer the questions and the proper files will
  99.              be created.

  101.              It is advised that turns be set to 5 a day, more would
  102.              disturb the balance of the game.

  104.              It is also advised to set the winning score at 175000
  105.              for a medium length game, less for a shorter game, more
  106.              for a longer game.
